How do I setup Highrise Integration?
Before reading the article: please note that we discontinued notes which were added to your contacts in your highrise account, when they received a campaign. The reason why we had to do this is that for some cases this generated to much traffic. We are looking for better solution currently and soon as we fix the issue we will let you know.
What is Highrise?
Highrise is an elegant and simple CRM to manage contacts and track activity. With Highrise Sync enabled, Newsberry will automatically sync contacts in Highrise to subscribers in your list. All changes in your Highrise account will be visible in your Newsberry contacts list in which you enabled Highrise Sync.
How to set up Highrise integration
You can set up integration with Highrise by going to the Subscribers tab in your list, then clicking Highrise Integration. In order to synchronize with Highrise, you would need to fill out your Highrise account data:
- Highrise account URL - url which points to the address where your Highrise account is located
- API token - authentication token
Authentication token can be found in your Highrise account.

To find your API token, log in to your highrise account, click on the "My Info" link at top, and then select Api token tab on the page.

Your Highrise account data will be kept safe and it will not be visible. After filling all fields, you have two options:
- Check "Enable Highrise sync" checkbox and click "Sync accounts" button
- Click only "Sync accounts" button
Highrise syncing enabled
If you check Enable Highrise sync checkbox and click the Sync accounts button, your contacts list will be synchronized with Highrise. If any information is updated within your Highrise account (contacts added, updated or deleted) the updates would be visible in your Newsberry list (in approximately 3 hours). After syncing, you will be redirected to a page where you can manage subscribers and you will see the Highrise contacts and regular contacts.
Highrise contacts are marked with the Highrise icon and cannot be edited. You will see a note that Highrise syncing is enabled next to the green icon.

Highrise syncing disabled
If you only click Sync accounts, without checking the Enable Highrise syncing checkbox, at this moment your contacts list will be synchronized with Highrise, but you will not be able to see any changes if the Highrise account is updated later. In order to do so, you would have to click the Sync accounts button to perform a manual sync. After syncing, you will be redirected to a page where you can manage subscribers. If Enable Highrise syncing checkbox was not checked all accounts will show up as regular accounts without the Highrise icons and they can be edited. You will see a note that Highrise syncing is disabled next to the gray icon.

We recommend using Highrise integration with syncing enabled.
Can I use separate Highrise syncing for every list in my account?
You can use different Highrise syncing in each list you create. Every list can be integrated with a different Highrise account. You can also have regular contacts along with Highrise contacts, they can coexist without any problem. The only difference between regular contacts and Highrise contacts is that Highrise contacts cannot be edited.
What fields are synchronized in Highrise integration?
In Newsberry lists you can have several different fields for every contact: email, name, phone, hobby etc. and same goes for your Highrise account. When integrating with Highrise, Newsberry automatically updates name and email in Highrise to your Newsberry list. If you have created a Phone field in Newsberry, that field will be updated too. Other fields are not supported at this time.
How does Highrise syncing work?
When you integrate with Highrise, all contacts from your Highrise account are pulled to your Newsberry list. If a contact already exists, it is updated and marked as a Highrise subscriber. If the contact doesn't exist, it is added. If you have Highrise syncing enabled, the Newsberry list is auto synchronized every three hours. If you want to see the changes which you have made recently in your Highrise account immediately in Newsberry, you can synchronize manually by clicking the Sync account button. If you changed email address, full name or phone number in your Highrise contacts, the changes will be visible in the Newsberry list as well. Only the email address and phone number that is visible on the contacts page (http://account.highrisehq.com/parties) for contacts is pulled from your Highrise account. Other email addresses and phone numbers are not synchronized.
How to disable Highrise integration
You can simply disable integration with Highrise by going to the Subscribers tab in your list, then clicking Highrise integration. After that, uncheck the checkbox "Enable Highrise syncing" and click "Sync accounts" button. From now on, Highrise integration is disabled, and all contacts from your Highrise account are treated as regular subscribers.
