Knowledge Base: How do I separate subscriber data in Excel from one cell?
In order to import subscribers into Newsberry your spreadsheet
needs to have subscriber data separated by fields (name, email,
etc). Sometimes, when you export your lists from software used to
collect subscriber information the file isn't separating the data
into separate cells. Each row contains a single cell with all of
that subscribers data. To fix this, excel allows you to separate
this information in a few easy steps. Here's a sample file.

Changing the delimiter in Excel
First, highlight all the cells in the file that contain the subscriber data. Next, in the menu bar, click: Data > Text to Columns. Select the file type Delimited.

On Step 2, you'll need to specify the file delimiters. Usually, its best not to select Space Delimiting since that will separate a field with more than one word (i.e. Subscriber Address) into several separate fields. Its also important to make sure you deselect "Treat consecutive delimiters as one" so that blank fields end up corresponding to the correct fields.

Viewing the results
The screen shot above was taken in the Mac version of Excel. It
may look different on a PC, but will have the same fields. Your
file may be delimited in many different ways (colons, tabs, commas)
so the selections may vary. Here is what the file should look like
when you are finished.
