Common Importing file issues

Newsberry allows you to import two types of files with your subscriber data:

  • Microsoft Excel (.xls)
  • Comma-separated values file (.csv)

If you have an issue importing your file, the most common issue is that the file is not in one of the two allowed formats. If you are working with an Excel file, make sure that your file is being saved with the .xls extension (we accept the following Microsoft Excel versions: 5.0/95/97/2000/XP/2007)

The best way to make sure is to go to File > Save as > FileName.xls

A Comma-separated file (.csv) is the best for importing because it does not have extra fomatting in the file. You can easily save a file within Microsoft Excel as .csv by doing the same as above. In this case, select the format .csv.
