Blocked Bounce Message

Overview

In most cases, when there is a block on an IP address by and ISP, a bounce message will be sent back to Newsberry letting you know. Newsberry will mark these bounces as Blocked so you can easily identify them. It is important that if you notice any blocked domains, you notify us or resolve the issue (if you are on a dedicated IP).

Finding Blocked Bounces

To see if you have any Blocked domains, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Reports -> Campaign Reports

  2. Look for recent campaigns with bounces. If you see a number that is higher than normal, you may want to investigate it. Click on the Bounce number to open a new window with Bounce information.

  1. Take a look at the bounce types on the right-hand side of the window. If you see any Blocked bounce reasons, click on them to get information on the specific Domains that are blocked.

  2. When you click on Blocked, on the left-hand side we will update the domains and their percentages. This will quickly show you where you have a problem. As you can see in the screenshot below, there is obviously a problem with AOL.

  1. To see the specific reason why the IP has been blocked, click on the little Help icon next to the subscribers email address. You will be able to see the specifics, and often directions for removal, from the ISP.

What you should do

If you are on a shared IP and you notice some blocked messages, please contact us immediately. We make every effort to monitor and resolve these as they come in, but sometimes issues with smaller ISPs are only brought to our attention by customers who send to those.

If you are on a dedicated IP, you will need to determine with the ISP what the cause of the block is and make any necessary adjustments. Contact us for any assistance.

Once the block has been removed, it is a good idea to reactivate those subscribers. Follow these simple steps to quickly reactivate and start sending to those subscribers.

You can also resend a campaign to those subscribers using our Behavioral Sublists.
