How is it possible to make an online form on my website, that allows users to go unsubscribe their membership? I have no experience with API development, so can someone please guide me?

Kind regards,
Ben

    Hi Ben,

At this time, there is no way to have an Unsubscribe form on your site, without using the API. The API has been recently updated to include this option, but has not been released with documentation yet. If you have a developer that is able to build this form using the API, I can see if we can get some preliminary documentation to them on how the Unsubscribe would work.

    Thanks,

    Natalie

    Hi Natalie,

if you could please get me some documentation as soon as possible that would be great. Our client really wants this online form and our Newsletter launch is coming up quickly.

    Kind regards,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

I'll see what we can do. Right now, I don't have anyone who could write the documentation. It was not planned to be released for a few weeks.

I do have a question. Could you tell me a little bit about why you need an Unsubscribe form on the site? I'm just curious what the needs for this feature are.

    Thanks,

    Natalie

    Hi Natalie,

The client wants a double opt out option. He would like a form on his website for unsubscribing. The form needs to check the database to see if the entered first name, last name and email address in this unsubscribe form match the entry in the database and also checks if the user is a member. If so, the user is sent an email asking to confirm the unsubscribing action. If not an error message is shown.

I am not sure what is considered standard in the industry, but I know there are other services that offer this ability. I have read about it online.

    Kind regards,
    Ben Davis

    Hi Ben,

The problem is, in Newsberry we require that you use our 1-click Unsubscribe feature. A campaign cannot go out of our system without one of our Unsubscribe links. Once the user clicks the link, they are immediately Unsubscribed from your list in Newsberry, do double unsubscribe.

The form on the site would be ok, but it cannot replace any Unsubscribe links in your email campaigns.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

    Thanks,

    Natalie

    Hi Natalie,

I convinced the client that we do not need to offer this, so I think it is not off the table.

    Thanks for your help.
