How do I export a specific address group from Outlook to Excel?

Hello,

I followed your link to the Office 2007 tutorial about exporting Contacts to an Excel file so I can add it to our Newsberry distribution list. Unfortunately, when I tested it, there was no instruction about how to export a specific address group to an Excel file. The Outlook tutorial walks you through copying all of your contacts into Excel, and your individual address groups don't show up in the spreadsheet.

Am I describing this well enough for you to know what I am talking about? Should I go to Office 2007 for help rather than you this time?

    Hi Carson,

    I'm not sure I can help much with the Outlook export. Can you tell me a little bit more about the issue that differs from our help article? I'm not sure I understand. Maybe I can research some solution for you.

    OK, Thanks Natalie. I don't know if you work with Outlook at all. Within your Contacts folder, you have your regular individuals, and you can also create groups of individuals as an address group. So, for example, I have the "CHERP Steering Committee" in my Outlook Contacts as a specific group. Then when I am sending out an announcement about CHERP that would interest them, I just click on the group and they all get it.

    When I went through the description in Outlook 2007 about how to export Contacts to an Excel file, their steps show you how to export all the individuals you have in your Contacts into one Excel file. The address groups are left out. If you haven't come up against this before, I don't want you to have to do the legwork on it. I did send an email to Outlook help, but I don't know if/when I will hear back from them.

    Do you think there might be other Newsberry users who have done this?

    Thanks for the explanation. We don't use Outlook in our office so I have not encountered that, but I do understand exactly what you are saying. I'll ask around here to see if anyone has any ideas. I would expect that Outlook help would get back to you. I'll get back to you this afternoon.

    Sorry for the delay on this!

    I wasn't able to dig up anything on this issue other than hearing from some people in the office that they've heard the Groups causing issues in the past. Were you able to figure anything our, or better yet, did Microsoft ever get back to you?

    Thanks Natalie. No, I have not heard back from Microsoft or any of those on-line discussion groups. I even sent an email to the Help Desk here but I didn't even receive an acknowledgment of my note.

    I will find out, though. I don't give up that easily. Then I can tell you and you can tell other people when they ask you!
