Hi,

I just joined today and we are thinking about using Newsberry for our nonprofit emails. I was wondering if someone could explain to me how to change colors, fonts and backgrounds on the templates. The problem I had is, I uploaded a header onto the template, and it shows up on the webpage, but not in the test email I sent. The test email just showed the standard brown background. Also, I wanted to know how to change fonts in the templates, if this is possible. Thanks!

    Hi Kate,

Thanks for using Newsberry. The editor for the html pages has limited functionality and allows basic adjustments to the html campaigns. We are thinking about it and will probably update it in near future. In editor you can change basic properties of the email template, like font color, format of text, size. For more advanced editing of the email templates, you can use built in html editor, in which you can change color, fonts etc.

Related to the email header not showing up in your test html template, could you tell me your account name and email campaign in which you added a header. I will take a look and try to send a test campaign if that's ok?

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, Igor

    Igor,

Thanks for your help. My account name is "wtrprograms" and the campaign name
    is "Newsberry test."

I was also having trouble putting links into the email. If you are able to
put this process into a step-by-step list, I would be very grateful.

    Thanks again!

    -Kate

    Hi Kate,

I took a look at your campaign, and will check that issue with our developers. Did this happen only for test campaign or when you sent out the campaign too?

Related to link adding, you can add them to your campaigns with editor. Here are the steps:

    1. click the icon in the editor (small "world" icon)
    2. fill out the data in popup , I added screenshots

    or

    1. select text
    2. click on icon
    3. fill out data

I added screenshots for the steps

    Igor,

I sent out the campaign to the "Test" list of just a few people. The header
didn't show up in the email, it just showed up when you clicked on the link
    to view the email online.

Thanks for the suggestions regarding adding links. I tried it seemed to
work. It's nice when things are easy! Thank you very much.

The header still didn't show up. If it won't work, I can fiddle with it some
    more.

    Thanks again,

    Kate

    Hi Kate,

I have created a draft from the campaign you sent and fixed the issues with pictures so you can use that campaign. For the header, the path was not correct, it was relative: "/images/3465/header.jpg" instead of "http://app.newsberry.com/images/3465/header.jpg". There was one more issue, the "Nice 20WTR 20Logo.jpg" has white spaces and was not read correctly. I fixed that to for you in the template.

We are working on fix for both issues right now and soon as they are fixed we will let you know, and there would be no problems with uploading images with white spaces and path.

Related to white spaces, could you help us figure out how it happened. I was unable to reproduce this with the same picture. Which browser did you use for this, if you could post also the steps you used that would be great?

    Sorry for the inconvenience, Igor

    Igor,

Thanks for taking the time to help with this.

I am using Mozilla Firefox as the web browser. I clicked on "Image Manager,"
then "Upload Image" and followed the instructions. If you are referring to
the white space around the logo, that is in the original picture.

Let me know when I can try to send a test to see if the header shows up in
    my email.

    Thanks again,

    Kate

    Hi Kate,

sorry for the confusion I meant the spaces in the name of the filename. If you use filenames which don't contain spaces like "tesfile.jpg" instead "test file.jpg", the uploaded image will work , we are looking into the issue with filenames which contain spaces.

The name of the campaign draft I created for you in your account is "Copy of Test Run 2". It's same as the ones you created but with fixed problems. I sent a test campaign and it worked ok. You can try it too.

Let us know if it works for you

    Thanks, Igor

    Hey Igor,

So, the test run looks better, but in one of my email accounts (in Outlook),
for some reason the heading "Work to Ride Newsletter" is on the left (over
the logo on the left side of the header) and not on the right where you can
read it. When you click to view an online version, it shows up the way it's
supposed to. It's not like that on my Hotmail account.

Not sure if this is just something glitchy with Outlook, or if there is
anything we can do to fix it.

Also, I'm a little slow at this stuff, but I can't find how to change fonts
in the Template, if that's possible. I can change colors and sizes of text,
    but not fonts themselves.

    Hi Kate,

well related to Outlook, unfortunatelly there is nothing we can do about it, it's a glitch in their application. Check this article, which explains how Outlook works, and the down sides when it's rendering the html email campaigns:

    http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2007/01/10/microsoft-breaks-html-email-rendering-in-outlook/

The editor in our application doesn't allow changing font type, the only way you could do this is by editing html code with html editor, or you could hire designer to help you out with font changing.

    Thanks, Igor
